Endovascular cerebral aneurysm treatment volume during coronavirus 2019:

  • The sustainability of elective procedures during the pandemic is increasingly dependent on hospital length of stay and perhaps endovascular aneurysm treatment (or endovascular treatment in general) could shift to postoperative extended observation instead of full admission to further extend its advantage over clipping or open surgeries.
  • In the COVID-19 pandemic with struggling hospital finances, limited resources, and a patient population in need of treatment, an accelerated shift in disposition paradigms may help fulfill responsibilities to both our cerebrovascular patients and the general public.
